Description
On September 22, 2025, the municipality of Hoppegarten reported that the processing of a cyber‑attack was still underway. The administration stated that it continued to work on restoring IT services to full availability. Telephone and email access to the core administration had been reestablished. Citizen services of the residents’ registration office were made available again starting Monday, September 22, 2025. The municipality indicated that it expected all services in that area to function properly, while asking for understanding of possible short‑term disturbances in daily operations.

Communication with subordinate facilities such as schools and kindergarten institutions remained disturbed at the time of the statement. The release of the communication channel via the state administrative network to other state authorities could not be initiated until the central IT service provider Brandenburg granted its approval. The evaluation of this public authority by the central IT service provider was still pending. Investigations into the incident were being conducted by the State Criminal Police Office of Brandenburg (LKA Brandenburg). LKA Brandenburg ensured a regular exchange of information with the municipal administration. Throughout the response, the protection of data continued to be treated as the highest priority.
