Description
Onthe morning of Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the University of Brasília (UnB) experienced a hacker attack that disrupted its internet connectivity. The attack rendered the university's official website and its Wi‑Fi network inaccessible. According to UnB's official note, the disruption lasted approximately three hours before services were restored. The incident occurred during regular business hours, affecting online access for students, faculty, and staff. The Secretariat of Information Technology (STI) responded immediately and preventively, collaborating with the National Research Network (RNP) to address the attack. UnB stated that the response was carried out without any compromise of institutional data or information. After the internet connection was reestablished, the university initiated a procedural process with the competent authorities to investigate the facts. UnB emphasized that it continuously monitors and improves its information security systems as part of its commitment to data protection and transparency.
