Description

On Monday, October 11, 2026, Ahold Delhaize reported experiencing a network security issue that prompted the company to take certain systems offline to help protect them. As a result, the apps and websites for Stop & Shop and Hannaford went offline and displayed maintenance messages to customers. Giant Food was also affected, with its digital channels experiencing similar disruptions. Stores, pharmacies, and fuel stations continued to operate during normal business hours despite the online outage. Any unfulfilled orders placed through the websites or apps during the outage will be refunded to customers. It remains unclear when the apps and websites will be fully restored and back online.

Ahold Delhaize issued a statement explaining that the systems were taken offline to mitigate the security issue and that its teams are actively assessing and working to resolve the problem. A spokesperson confirmed to the Boston Globe that other store operations, including refrigeration and sales systems, were unaffected by the incident. The company advised Giant Food customers to place delivery orders through third‑party platforms such as Instacart, DoorDash and Uber Eats while the digital services are down. Ahold Delhaize apologized for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience as they work to restore service as quickly as possible. The company is based in the Netherlands and operates 17 local brands across nine countries, including five in the United States: Stop & Shop, Hannaford, Giant Food, The GIANT Company and Food Lion.
