Description

OnMarch 31, 2025, the Fiscalía General de la Nación de Uruguay reported that it had detected an attempted cyberattack against its institutional systems. The director of communication, Javier Benech, stated that the institution remained in absolute control of the handling of its systems throughout the incident. He emphasized that the attack attempt did not result in any access to sensitive information. The Fiscalía confirmed that its internal computer systems had activated the established security protocols in response to the detected threat.

Following the activation of those protocols, the Fiscalía’s technical teams began monitoring the situation and coordinating a response with the support of the Agesic (Agencia de Gobierno Electrónico y Sociedad de la Información). The institution issued a public communiqué indicating that it was aware of the situation, that the corresponding monitoring and response protocols had been enacted, and that its technical staff was working in a coordinated manner with Agesic assistance. The communiqué also affirmed that the Fiscalía’s institutional systems continued to operate normally and remained under control, in accordance with the procedures established for such cybersecurity events.

In addition to the cybersecurity incident, senators from the Partido Nacional presented a formal denunciation against the fiscal Alciaturi, a detail noted in the same reporting. The Fiscalía’s statement addressed both the cyberattack attempt and the public concerns raised by the denunciation, reiterating that no compromise of sensitive data had occurred. The overall message from the institution was that the situation was under control, that systems were functioning as expected, and that all necessary response measures were being carried out in line with established protocols.
