Description

On April 19, 2023, Amtel, LLC dba Connectivity Source received an alert about suspicious activity within its computer network. In response, the company engaged a cybersecurity firm to conduct an investigation. The investigation confirmed that the suspicious activity was a cyberattack in which an unauthorized party gained access to the company’s IT network. The unauthorized party accessed files that contained highly sensitive information relating to certain current and former employees. The company completed its review of the affected files on April 21, 2023 to determine what information was compromised and which individuals were impacted.

Based on the company’s filing with the Maine Attorney General, the breach resulted in the unauthorized acquisition of employees’ names and Social Security numbers. The specific data elements varied by individual, but could include name and Social Security number. Amtel confirmed that consumer data had been leaked and subsequently began sending out data breach notification letters. On May 10, 2023, Connectivity Source mailed breach notifications to all individuals whose information was compromised, totaling 17,835 current and former employees.
