The organisation experienced a significant cybersecurity incident in October 2021. This breach involved a ransomware attack perpetrated by the Conti cybercriminal group. The attackers gained unauthorized access to the organisation's systems, resulting in the exfiltration of highly sensitive personal and medical information belonging to clients and patients. The compromised data included names, contact details, Social Security numbers, financial information, medical records, and insurance details.

The company discovered the breach in mid-November 2021 and subsequently initiated an investigation while notifying law enforcement agencies. In response to the incident, Medical Healthcare Solutions implemented enhanced security measures. Notification letters were sent to impacted individuals months after the breach occurred, confirming that over 118,000 Massachusetts residents were affected. These individuals were offered 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services. Following the attack, the Conti group leaked a substantial portion of the stolen data on their public platforms. The company's official communications regarding the breach did not explicitly acknowledge the public exposure of the compromised information despite the Conti leak.
