Mahan Air

Mahan Air is an Iranian airline that provides scheduled passenger and cargo air transport services. It operates flights within Iran as well as to destinations in the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. The airline offers both economy and business class seating on its passenger aircraft. In addition to passenger transport, Mahan Air carries freight and mail on dedicated cargo flights and in the belly holds of its passenger jets.

The company is headquartered in Tehran, Iran, and maintains its main operational base at Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport. Mahan Air is a privately owned airline, not a subsidiary of a state‑owned entity. Its fleet primarily consists of Airbus aircraft used for long‑haul routes. The airline was founded in the early 1990s and has continued to expand its route network over the decades.

Mahan Air has been identified for transporting goods and personnel linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, a factor that has resulted in multiple sanctions from the United States and the European Union. In November 2021 the airline suffered a cyberattack claimed by the group Hooshyarane Vatan, which reported website disruption and the alleged theft of confidential documents. The carrier stated that flight operations were unaffected and described the incident as a routine threat that did not compromise safety.
