In early January 2025, Enercoop became one of several French entities targeted by a distributed denial‑of‑service attack carried out by the pro‑Russian hacker group NoName057(016). The attack, which occurred on 2025‑01‑01, aimed to overwhelm the organisation’s website and temporarily rendered it inaccessible alongside the sites of various municipalities and regional institutions. French authorities, including the Paris prosecutors’ office and the domestic intelligence agency DGSI, investigated the incident and confirmed that no data breach resulted from the attack. Despite the disruption to online services, the cooperative’s core energy delivery operations were not affected, and no member data was compromised. Following the event, several affected municipalities indicated their intention to file formal complaints against the perpetrators. The incident highlighted the growing threat of politically motivated cyber disruptions targeting French public and cooperative organisations.
