Karachi Port Trust manages the operations and development of Karachi Port, which is the principal seaport of Pakistan. It provides berthing facilities for vessels, oversees cargo handling operations including container, bulk and liquid cargo, and offers storage and warehousing services. The authority also supplies pilotage, towage and mooring assistance to ensure safe navigation within the port limits. In addition, it coordinates with customs and other regulatory agencies to facilitate clearance of imports and exports. Through these functions, Karachi Port Trust supports both domestic trade and international maritime logistics for the country.

Karachi Port Trust handles the largest share of Pakistan’s maritime cargo throughput, making the port a critical node in the nation’s supply chain. The trust operates under the administrative oversight of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and is wholly owned by the Government of Pakistan. Recently, the organisation’s official social media account was compromised, leading to a false post about alleged damage from an Indian strike, an incident that was quickly clarified by authorities and highlighted the need for heightened cyber vigilance.
