Profile
Asiana Airlines is a South Korean airline that provides passenger and air cargo transportation services. It operates scheduled flights connecting domestic cities within South Korea and numerous international destinations across Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania. The airline offers full‑service amenities including multiple cabin classes, in‑flight entertainment and meals. As a member of the Star Alliance global network, it coordinates codeshare agreements and lounge access with partner carriers.
The company has been recognised for its focus on service quality and safety standards, attributes that have contributed to its positioning among full‑service carriers in the region. In February 2017 its corporate website experienced a DNS hijacking that redirected visitors to a defaced page displaying political messages; the incident was acknowledged publicly, services were restored quickly and no data breach or operational impact was reported. This event is noted as one of the few publicly disclosed cybersecurity incidents involving the airline.
Asiana Airlines was originally part of the Kumho Asiana Group before becoming a publicly traded company listed on the Korea Exchange. In 2021 the airline was acquired by Korean Air, after which it operates as a subsidiary of the larger carrier while maintaining its own brand and operational identity. The headquarters remain located in South Korea, overseeing network planning, commercial functions and corporate governance.
