Hyundai Saudi Arabia, also known as Hyundai KSA and Hyundai SA, is headquartered in Saudi Arabia. The organisation is part of the Hyundai Motor Group, a global automotive manufacturer. It provides vehicles and related services to customers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and, as evidenced by a breach, also to customers in Iraq. In November 2019, the company experienced a data breach affecting approximately 460,000 customer records. The compromised data included personal and financial details such as full names, email addresses, cities, bank affiliations, monthly salaries, and phone numbers. The breach was carried out by an individual hacker who demanded a Bitcoin ransom for vulnerability disclosure and data deletion.

After the initial contact was ignored, the attacker claimed to retain persistent server access and possession of proprietary source code. The same threat actor later targeted additional automotive entities using comparable techniques. Investigations found no evidence linking the intrusion to state‑sponsored activity. The incident highlighted security deficiencies in the organisation’s information technology environment. The breach remains a notable example of cyber‑risk faced by regional subsidiaries of multinational corporations.
