Profile

The Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, Sudurpaschim Province, is the executive branch of the provincial government in Sudurpaschim, one of Nepal’s seven provinces. It supports the Chief Minister and the provincial Council of Ministers in carrying out their constitutional duties, including the implementation of provincial laws and policies. The office coordinates the work of various provincial departments and agencies to ensure effective governance across the province.

As a provincial authority, its jurisdiction covers the geographic and administrative boundaries of Sudurpaschim Province. The office operates within the framework established by the Constitution of Nepal and the Provincial Government Act, functioning as a key link between the provincial legislature and the public administration. Its mandate is limited to provincial matters, without authority over national or other provincial jurisdictions.

On 5 July 2024, the office’s official website was defaced by a hacker using the alias 'Captain Smoker 3R', who posted a message claiming responsibility for the breach. The provincial office promptly informed Kathmandu’s Department of Information Technology and began recovery procedures, although the site remained inaccessible the following day. No further operational disruptions or data losses were reported beyond the unauthorized access and the defacement incident. The organization is a government entity, wholly owned and funded by the Sudurpaschim Provincial Government, and reports directly to the Chief Minister.
