On 12 May 2024, the organisation experienced a ransomware attack that compromised approximately eight terabytes of data, including personal information of current students, recent graduates, parents, staff, and tenants, as well as academic documents. The attackers encrypted the data and left a ransom note that remained unreadable without specialised tools. In response, the institute immediately isolated its network, notified the relevant authorities and affected individuals, and launched comprehensive security scans and system reinstalls expected to take more than a week. While the full scope of the data exposure was not immediately determined, the institution warned of possible scams arising from the breach and pledged to strengthen its cybersecurity measures moving forward.
