On 18 October 2024, the country experienced a series of coordinated cyberattacks. These attacks were directed at critical infrastructure and government services across the nation. The attacks were claimed by pro‑Palestine hacker groups, notably including the collective known as LulzSec Black. The groups stated that the operation was retaliation for Cyprus’s perceived support of Israel. The primary technique employed was distributed denial‑of‑service (DDoS) traffic aimed at overwhelming online services. Sectors affected included airport operations, banking systems, telecommunications providers, and government websites. During the defensive upgrades, some security checkpoints experienced delays as a direct consequence of the attack traffic.

Although the disruptions were temporary, most of the attack attempts were unsuccessful and normal service was restored quickly. Officials confirmed that no data theft or breach of sensitive information occurred during the incidents.
