Holtzbrinck Buchverlage, operating under the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group name, is a German publishing company that edits, produces, and distributes books across fiction, non‑fiction, academic and educational categories through a portfolio of imprints. In June 2023 the company experienced a cyberattack that targeted an IT service provider supporting its operations; Holtzbrinck Buchverlage pre‑emptively cut external connections and ran system‑wide checks to contain the breach. Although no customer or partner data is believed to have been exfiltrated, the incident caused significant delivery delays and service outages that affected the supply chain to bookstores for several days. Full restoration of services was reported to be underway, with the disrupted state expected to persist for several more days before normal operations resumed.
