KiranaPro, also known by its alias KiranaPro, is an Indian startup that operates a grocery ordering application. The company’s headquarters is located in India. Through its app, KiranaPro enables customers to browse and purchase groceries, collecting personal information such as names, addresses and payment details during checkout. The platform relies on Amazon Web Services for hosting its infrastructure, specifically using Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances to run its services. On May 25, 2025, KiranaPro experienced a security breach in which attackers obtained root access to both its AWS and GitHub accounts. With this privileged access, the intruders deleted the company’s EC2 instances, resulting in the loss of hosted services. The breach also led to the wiping of all stored data, including the application source code and customer records containing names, addresses and payment information. Although the KiranaPro app remains reachable by users, it is currently unable to process new orders due to the loss of backend infrastructure and data. Investigators have indicated that the intrusion likely originated from a former employee’s credentials, noting that multi‑factor authentication codes were altered as part of the attack. In response, KiranaPro has contacted GitHub to request IP address traces associated with the unauthorized access. The company is pursuing legal action against the former staff members suspected of involvement in the incident. Simultaneously, KiranaPro is working to restore its services by rebuilding its AWS environment, recovering code from backups and securing its accounts.
