Indian Council on Medical Research

The Indian Council on Medical Research (ICMR) serves as the apex biomedical research body in India, operating under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It is responsible for formulating, coordinating, and promoting biomedical research across the country, with a mandate to address national health priorities through scientific inquiry. ICMR funds extramural research projects, supports intramural studies conducted at its institutes, and provides technical guidance on public health issues.
