WeLeakData.com, also known simply as WeLeakData, operated as a hacker forum and marketplace.
The organisation was headquartered in the United States of America.
Its primary function was to facilitate the trade of breached databases among cybercriminals.
In addition to databases, the platform provided credential‑stuffing tools for use in automated account takeover attempts.

On January 9, 2020, WeLeakData.com abruptly ceased operations.
The shutdown occurred amid rumors that the site’s operators had been arrested and that its underlying database had been stolen.
These rumors circulated within underground communities before the site went offline.

Shortly after the shutdown, the forum’s vBulletin database was obtained and later confirmed authentic by independent researchers.
The exposed data included private messages exchanged between members of the hacker community.
Login credentials and hashed passwords associated with forum accounts were also part of the leak.
Email addresses and IP addresses linked to the forum’s users were additionally disclosed in the breach.

The stolen database was subsequently sold on various dark web marketplaces, extending its reach beyond the original forum.
A replica of the leaked data appeared on a new site named Leaksmarket.com, which mirrored the original content.
Portions of the breach were integrated into a breach notification service that allowed victims to verify whether their information had been compromised.
The public availability of these communications posed a risk to the threat actors involved, as the leaked chats could aid law‑enforcement investigations and contribute to threat‑intelligence efforts.
