Profile narrative

RingCentral is a provider of cloud‑based communications and collaboration solutions that unify voice, video, messaging and contact‑center functions in a single platform. The company was founded in 1999 by Vlad Shmunis and Vlad Vendrow and has its headquarters in the United States of America. It offers a suite of products under the RingCentral MVP brand, which includes a cloud phone system, video meetings, team messaging and a cloud contact‑center solution. These services are delivered as software‑as‑a‑service (SaaS) offerings, allowing customers to subscribe and scale capacity without maintaining on‑premises hardware. RingCentral’s platform is built on a multi‑tenant architecture that supports integration with popular business applications such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce and various CRM systems. The company serves a diverse customer base ranging from small businesses to large enterprises across sectors including finance, healthcare, education, retail and technology. As a publicly traded corporation, RingCentral is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol RNG. Its infrastructure relies on a global network of data centers that provide redundancy and low‑latency access for users worldwide. RingCentral emphasizes reliability, publishing service level agreements that guarantee high availability for its voice and video services. The platform also includes administrative controls, analytics and reporting tools that help organizations monitor usage and optimize communication workflows. In addition to core UCaaS capabilities, RingCentral offers specialized solutions such as RingCentral Rooms for conference‑room hardware and RingCentral Webinar for large‑scale virtual events. The company’s commitment to interoperability is reflected in its extensive API ecosystem, which enables developers to build custom integrations and embed communications features into their own applications.

RingCentral disclosed a security incident on July 1 2026 that stemmed from a sophisticated social‑engineering campaign targeting employee credentials. The attackers leveraged compromised credentials to gain unauthorized access to a subset of customer data stored within the company’s environment. The ShinyHunters extortion group claimed responsibility for the breach, asserting they had exfiltrated more than 600 gigabytes of information. The stolen data reportedly included names, email addresses, phone numbers and physical addresses of affected individuals. When the ransom demand associated with the threat was not satisfied, the group published a 280‑gigabyte archive containing the compromised records. Have I Been Pwned later added the leak to its database, noting approximately 1.6 million unique email addresses among the exposed records. RingCentral communicated that only a limited portion of its customer base was impacted and that those customers were notified directly. The company affirmed that its core platform and services continued to operate normally throughout the incident. An investigation performed with a third‑party forensic firm concluded that no further unauthorized activity was detected after remediation steps were applied. Following the breach, RingCentral reinforced its security controls, including enhanced multi‑factor authentication and expanded monitoring of privileged access.
