Profile
Bornholms Lufthavn (Rønne) is an airport situated on the island of Bornholm in Denmark. It provides air transport services for passengers and, where applicable, cargo, linking the island to other Danish locations and selected international destinations. The facility includes a passenger terminal, runway, and ground support infrastructure necessary for flight operations. As the primary aviation gateway for Bornholm, it supports the mobility of residents, tourists, and local businesses. The airport operates under Danish civil aviation regulations and coordinates with national air traffic control authorities.
On 24 February 2024, Bornholms Lufthavn experienced a distributed denial‑of‑service (DDoS) attack that rendered its website temporarily inaccessible. The attack was part of a wider wave targeting several transport sites and municipalities in the region. The pro‑Russian hacker group NoName57(16) claimed responsibility via Telegram, stating that their “DDoS missiles” struck multiple targets. According to the group’s message, the objective was to create digital unrest without attempting to steal data. Cybersecurity experts noted that such attacks aim to overload services and cause short‑term disruption rather than long‑term harm.
