Profile

The Caddo Parish School System, also known as Caddo Parish Schools, is a public school system located in the United States. It provides K-12 education services to students residing in Caddo Parish. The system operates a variety of educational institutions, including traditional district-run schools and charter schools. Administrative functions of the system include managing budgets, processing payments to vendors and service providers, and overseeing compliance with educational regulations. Its headquarters is situated within the United States of America.

In January 2019, the school system fell victim to a phishing scheme that resulted in the loss of nearly $1 million in taxpayer funds. Fraudsters based in Nigeria gained access to the account of Charter Schools USA, the operator of Magnolia School of Excellence, and altered the banking information on file with the district. This manipulation caused $988,000 intended for the charter school operator to be diverted to an unauthorized account. The incident prompted an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and local law enforcement agencies. The incident was reported by news outlets and remains under investigation by federal and local authorities.
