Humanomed

Humanomed, also known as Humanomed, is a healthcare organisation headquartered in Austria. The group operates private hospitals, with at least two facilities located in the Carinthia region. These hospitals provide inpatient and outpatient medical care to the local population. The hospitals use a radiology software solution that is maintained remotely by an external vendor. On May 26, 2025, attackers gained unauthorized access to the network of Humanomed’s two Carinthia hospitals by compromising the remotely maintained radiology software. Internal IT staff detected irregularities in the radiology system and traced the intrusion to potentially malicious updates delivered through the external vendor’s remote maintenance channel. Humanomed engaged an external cybersecurity firm to assist its own technicians in investigating the breach and determining whether any patient data had been exfiltrated. Based on the initial assessment, the organisation stated that it believes no sensitive information was stolen and that no ransom demand has been received. Hospital operations have continued uninterrupted following the incident. No police report has been filed pending confirmation of possible data theft.
