New York Racing Association

Belmont Park, one of the three tracks, is the home of the Belmont Stakes, the final leg of the Triple Crown, a race that captures national attention each June. Saratoga Race Course, often referred to as the "Spa," hosts the Travers Stakes, the oldest major stakes race for three-year-olds in the country, and is renowned for its intimate atmosphere and high-quality competition. Aqueduct Racetrack provides year-round racing and serves as a key winter venue. NYRA has invested in modernizing its facilities, such as the ongoing redevelopment of Belmont Park, to enhance the fan experience and meet contemporary standards. In June 2022, NYRA faced a significant cybersecurity incident when the Hive ransomware group claimed responsibility for an attack that disrupted the organization's internal IT systems and public website. While the attack compromised sensitive personally identifiable information of employees and beneficiaries—including Social Security numbers, driver's license IDs, health records, and insurance information—core racing operations and wagering platforms remained unaffected. NYRA responded promptly by engaging leading cybersecurity experts, notifying law enforcement, and offering identity protection services to impacted individuals. Forensic investigations confirmed that customer wagering data and the integrity of the betting systems were not breached. This event underscored the growing cyber threats confronting sports and entertainment entities and highlighted NYRA's dedication to protecting data and maintaining operational resilience.
