Profile

WFB, also known as Wirtschaftsförderung Bremen, is headquartered in Germany. It operates websites and online services that support economic promotion for the Bremen region. As part of Bremen's municipal authorities, WFB provides resources and information to businesses and investors. Its online presence includes contact forms and publications aimed at facilitating economic development. The organisation works alongside other public entities to strengthen Bremen's economic position. WFB does not pursue commercial profit but serves public interest objectives. Its digital channels are intended to improve communication between the administration and the business community. The organisation's activities are reflected in its name, which denotes economic promotion for Bremen. WFB maintains a continuous online presence to reach domestic and international audiences. It contributes to the city's efforts to attract investment and support local enterprises.

In early 2025, WFB experienced multiple cyber incidents involving distributed denial‑of‑service attacks carried out by the pro‑Russian group NoName057(16). On 28 January 2025, an unsuccessful DDoS attempt was directed at its website. On 12 February 2025, a subsequent attack succeeded in overwhelming a police contact form, causing temporary disruption across Bremen's administrative websites, including those associated with WFB. Although these attacks did not result in data theft, they prompted the implementation of automated throttling measures to mitigate future DDoS traffic. The incidents were part of a broader series of five attacks on Bremen authorities over a four‑month period. No data compromise was reported during the DDoS events. Unrelated phishing compromises affected other Bremen agencies, leading to spam distribution from compromised education department email accounts. Authorities attributed the attacks to general cybercrime trends rather than specific targeting of Bremen. The organisation continues to maintain its online services while enhancing its cyber resilience. These measures aim to reduce the likelihood of successful disruption in future incidents.
