A notable incident involving the organisation’s equipment occurred on 19 December 2022. An Iranian hacking group identified as Moses Staff compromised dozens of the organisation’s CCTV cameras. The compromised devices were situated near sensitive sites, including a defense contractor facility in Haifa. The breach also affected cameras in other major Israeli cities. The attackers gained prolonged control over the affected cameras.

During the intrusion, the hackers published previously unseen footage captured by the civilian cameras. The released video showed areas such as an arms facility and the aftermath of a terror attack. The hacking group claimed continuous surveillance operations and an intent to strike unexpectedly. Israeli security authorities acknowledged awareness of the intrusions but stated they did not intervene. They asserted that the breached cameras were not linked to critical security infrastructure, despite evidence of monitoring targeting senior officials.
