Profile

VNPT (Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group) is a state-owned telecommunications and postal services provider headquartered in Vietnam. It offers a range of services including fixed-line telephone, mobile communications, broadband internet, data transmission, and information and communications technology (ICT) solutions for individual consumers, enterprises, and government agencies. The company also operates the national postal network, handling mail and parcel delivery across the country. Its services are primarily directed at the domestic market, though it maintains partnerships and roaming agreements with foreign operators to support international connectivity for its customers. VNPT’s product portfolio integrates traditional telecom infrastructure with newer digital services such as cloud computing, cybersecurity services, and smart city solutions. By operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Information and Communications, it aligns its offerings with national telecommunications policy and universal service obligations.

VNPT is one of the largest telecommunications operators in Vietnam, serving a substantial customer base across fixed-line, mobile, and broadband segments. As the historic postal and telecommunications operator, VNPT possesses extensive physical infrastructure, including a nationwide fiber-optic network and copper line assets, which enables it to provide bundled services and maintain universal service coverage. It also holds a strategic role in implementing national ICT development plans and contributes to the country's digital transformation initiatives. Structurally, VNPT is a state-owned enterprise wholly owned by the Government of Vietnam, with various subsidiaries such as VNPT Telecom, VNPT Internet, and VNPT Mobile handling specific business lines. The organization’s governance includes a board of directors appointed by the state, and it reports to the Ministry of Information and Communications. In March 2015, VNPT disclosed a cybersecurity breach in which approximately 50,000 customer accounts were compromised by domestic attackers, highlighting challenges in securing its account management systems and prompting reviews of data protection practices.
