Goa University

Goa University is a state university situated in Taleigao, Goa, India. It was established in 1985 under the Goa University Act. The university provides a broad spectrum of higher education programmes, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. These programmes span faculties such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Law, Engineering, and Technology. Instruction is delivered through its own departments and through a network of affiliated colleges across the state. The institution primarily serves students from Goa while also admitting learners from other parts of India and abroad.

As the sole state university in Goa, it holds a unique regulatory and accreditation role for higher education institutions within the region. Goa University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and adheres to state‑government guidelines for academic standards. The university’s incident history includes the 2016 cyber attack by the Muslim Cyber Army under Anonymous’s #OpIndia campaign, which disrupted services and exposed personal data.
