The Prefeitura de Chapadão do Sul is the municipal administration of Chapadão do Sul, Brazil. It is responsible for delivering a range of public services to the local population, including health care, tax collection, financial management and social assistance. These functions constitute the core administrative activities of the municipality. The organisation operates within the framework of Brazil’s federal system of government.

In May 2025 the municipality experienced a cyberattack that encrypted its data and disabled critical systems across multiple administrative functions. The attackers demanded a ransom of 1.5 million United States dollars, which the administration refused to pay. Instead, the prefeitura pursued recovery through internal efforts and the assistance of external specialists.

During the incident the government filed police reports, launched an administrative investigation and preserved the affected equipment for evidence. To maintain essential services while rebuilding, a provisional database and a new tax‑invoice series were created. New servers were acquired and security upgrades such as external backups, intrusion barriers and modern protection tools were implemented.

Although some functions remained temporarily unstable after the attack, the administration expected full normalisation once the reinforced environment became operational. The prefeitura continues to fulfil its role as the local government authority for Chapadão do Sul.
