The Saudi Ministry of Education is responsible for the overall administration and development of education throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It formulates national education policy, designs curricula for general and higher education, and oversees their implementation in schools and universities. The ministry supervises public schools at all levels, from early childhood through secondary education, ensuring that instructional standards are met. It also regulates private educational institutions, granting licenses and monitoring compliance with ministry‑set requirements. As a cabinet‑level ministry, the Saudi Ministry of Education reports to the Council of Ministers and ultimately to the King, placing it within the core executive structure of the Saudi government. The attack caused prolonged downtime for the ministry’s web presence, illustrating the exposure of government entities to cyber threats. While the incident was a notable cybersecurity event, the ministry’s primary mandate remains the advancement of learning and educational equity throughout Saudi Arabia. Ongoing efforts focus on integrating technology into classrooms, expanding vocational training pathways, and fostering lifelong learning opportunities for the population.
