Jill Halfpenny

Jill Halfpenny is an English actress who performs under the name Jill Halfpenny. She was born on 15 July 1975 in Middlesbrough, a town in North East England. Her acting career began in the mid‑1990s with a role in the children's drama series Byker Grove, where she portrayed Kate Matthews from 1995 to 1999. This early work provided a foundation for her subsequent transition to mainstream television.

Following her time on Byker Grove, Halfpenny joined the cast of the long‑running soap opera Coronation Street in 1999. She played the role of Kate Matthews on Coronation Street until her departure in 2000. After leaving Coronation Street, she secured a prominent role in another major soap, EastEnders, starting in 2002.
