Scotland Town Hall

Scotland Town Hall, also known as STH Organization or Town of Scotland, is a municipal government entity headquartered in the United States. As a town hall, it provides core governmental functions and public services to the residents of the Scotland community. These functions typically include local administration, oversight of public works, and facilitation of community programs. The organization operates under the authority of local elected officials, including the First Selectman and town treasurer. Its primary scope is limited to the geographic jurisdiction of the Town of Scotland.

On October 24, 2023, the town hall experienced a cyber attack in which attackers impersonated legitimate vendors online. The fraudulent scheme resulted in the theft of $279,300 through unauthorized transactions. Additional diversion attempts were made but were unsuccessful. The incident was identified by the outgoing First Selectman and subsequently reported to state and federal law enforcement agencies. An ongoing criminal investigation was prompted by the report. In the aftermath, the town treasurer resigned and potential civil litigation from affected vendors is being monitored. In response, the town hall implemented enhanced cybersecurity measures, revised its financial procedures, and mandated staff cyber‑training to reduce future risk.
