The Alma Mater Society of Queen's University (AMS) functions as the undergraduate student government at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. It advocates on behalf of its members regarding academic, financial, and social issues that affect student life. The organization also operates a variety of campus‑based businesses and services, such as the Student Life Centre, the Tricolour Outlet retail store, the Queen's Pub, and the AMS Food Bank, which are intended to meet everyday needs of the student community.

As a not‑for‑profit, student‑run entity, the AMS reinvests any surplus generated by its commercial operations back into student programs and services. It provides employment opportunities for students through its businesses and administrative offices, helping them gain work experience while studying. The society also oversees the recognition and funding of numerous student clubs and societies, facilitating extracurricular involvement across the campus.

Governance of the AMS rests with an elected Board of Directors composed of undergraduate students, who are responsible for setting policy, approving budgets, and directing the organization's strategic direction. Although the AMS operates within the framework of Queen's University, it maintains financial and administrative autonomy, funded primarily through mandatory student fees. It is not a subsidiary of any external corporation or parent organization; its legal status is that of an independent student society incorporated under Ontario law.

In January 2023, the AMS disclosed that email addresses associated with its accounts were exposed as part of a third‑party Twitter data breach, where scraped user information appeared on a dark web forum. The society confirmed that the compromise stemmed solely from the Twitter incident and that no breach of its internal systems occurred. Following the disclosure, the AMS IT team indicated it was monitoring the situation and taking steps to mitigate any potential risks to its members.
