LandMark White, also known as LMW, is an Australian‑based valuation firm that specialises in providing property valuation services. The company’s core offering consists of assessing residential and commercial real estate for clients that include banks, mortgage lenders and other financial institutions. Operating from its headquarters in Australia, LMW delivers valuation reports that support lending decisions, portfolio management and risk assessment within the property finance sector.

LMW’s client base has historically included several of Australia’s largest banks, which rely on its valuations for home‑loan underwriting and other credit products. These relationships indicate that the firm operates at a national scale within the Australian mortgage and property lending market. The valuations produced by LMW are used to determine loan‑to‑value ratios and to assess the risk associated with property‑backed lending.

In January 2019 a cybersecurity incident exposed an application programming interface on one of LMW’s platforms, leading to the unauthorized access of personal data belonging to approximately 100,000 customers. The compromised information included property valuations, contact details and birthdates. Following the discovery of the breach, multiple major Australian banks suspended their engagements with the company while they conducted their own investigations.

LMW characterised the incident as isolated to a single system and stated that there was no evidence of data misuse or compromised financial documents. Nevertheless, the breach added to existing financial pressures the firm was already experiencing, including reduced business volumes due to regulatory pressures and broader turmoil in the banking sector. These challenges contributed to a noticeable decline in LMW’s share price and underscored the importance of robust data protection for a valuation business operating in a highly regulated environment.
