Profile

C-CEX operates as a cryptocurrency exchange platform headquartered in Germany. The service allows users to buy, sell, and trade a variety of digital assets through its online interface. Among the supported currencies are Dogecoin (DOGE) and Litecoin (LTC), which were available for trading against other cryptocurrencies. The exchange provides market data, order matching, and wallet services for its registered users. Its primary market consists of individual traders and investors seeking access to crypto markets.

On September 9, 2018, C-CEX experienced a security breach in which attackers exploited a vulnerability in the withdrawal procedure. The exploit enabled repeated withdrawal requests that drained the exchange’s entire reserves of Dogecoin and Litecoin. Following the incident, C-CEX confirmed the theft, suspended withdrawals for the affected assets, and moved the impacted user balances to a “Hold” status. The exchange advised customers not to deposit funds to previous addresses and publicly shared IP addresses and email details associated with the attacker accounts. Although DOGE and LTC trading pairs accounted for less than ten percent of the platform’s total volume, the event drew attention to prior concerns about C-CEX’s security practices and fund management. The vulnerability was subsequently patched, and the exchange resumed normal operations for other assets after securing the withdrawal process.
