Profile narrative
Exposed, also known as Exposed forum, is identified as a hacking forum. The organisation operates an online platform where users discuss topics related to hacking and cybersecurity. Its primary function is to facilitate discussion among members interested in hacking topics. The forum gained public attention following a specific data leakage event in May 2023. This event highlighted the forum's role in disseminating sensitive information obtained from other hacking communities.
On May 29, 2023, Exposed leaked a database containing registration details of 478,000 members from the RaidForums platform. The leaked data included usernames, email addresses, hashed passwords, and other account-related information. The compromised data spanned several years of user registrations from RaidForums. The leak was initiated by an administrator of the Exposed forum. The administrator stated that the database dump was not originally intended for public release but decided to share it while withholding specifics about its source. After the release, most records were retained, with only minor removals performed. The exposed information provides insight into individuals previously involved in trading stolen data. This incident occurred after law enforcement seizures of RaidForums and its successor Breached. The leak thus offers threat actors and researchers a view into a segment of the cybercriminal ecosystem. Exposed continues to be referenced in discussions about data breaches and hacking forum activities.
