On March 1, 2025, the Graz 99ers were subjected to a cyberattack. The incident was confirmed by the team’s general manager in a public statement. Following the confirmation, the general manager indicated that law‑enforcement authorities had been notified. An investigation into the attack was promptly launched and remains ongoing. The exact scope of any data loss or system disruption has not yet been disclosed.

While the investigation proceeds, the organisation has not released detailed technical specifics about the attack vector or the affected systems. The club continues to focus on its sporting commitments while cooperating with authorities. No further public updates have been provided regarding remedial measures.

The Graz 99ers’ experience underscores the growing cybersecurity challenges faced by sports organisations that manage digital ticketing, fan platforms, and operational data. As a member of the ICE Hockey League, the team contributes to the league’s competitive and entertainment offerings. Its home games are hosted in Graz, with away fixtures requiring travel to other league venues. The club’s primary role remains the promotion and execution of professional ice hockey competitions.
