On February 12, 2025, a pro‑Russian hacker group identified as NoName057(16) launched a distributed denial‑of‑service attack against the Bremen Police website. This volume of traffic rendered the broader Bremen administration websites largely inaccessible for approximately ninety minutes. Following the incident, the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) assumed lead responsibility for investigating the group, which had claimed responsibility on Telegram and is known for targeting perceived supporters of Ukraine. In addition, a botnet‑related spam abuse incident exploited manipulated contact forms, though it also did not lead to data breach. After the February attack, Brekom implemented automated throttling measures to mitigate future volumetric traffic surges.
