Riksdagen

The organisation is known as the Riksdagen, which is the Swedish Parliament. It serves as the national legislative authority of Sweden. Its headquarters are located in Sweden. As the parliament, it is responsible for enacting laws, approving the state budget, and overseeing the work of the government. The institution represents the Swedish electorate and operates within a constitutional monarchy framework. Its activities are confined to the domestic political sphere of Sweden, with no explicit mention of international commercial markets.

On 29 April 2024, the Riksdagen website was hit by a distributed denial-of-service attack that caused partial outages and persistent slowness. The attack disrupted public access to webcasts and online services during a period of heightened cybersecurity concern. Parliamentary officials confirmed the nature of the incident and noted ongoing restoration efforts but could not estimate a full recovery timeline. The incident coincided with high-level Nordic-Ukrainian diplomatic meetings and followed Sweden's NATO application amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Earlier, on 2 May 2023, the parliament's website experienced a load-based attack that left the site largely down, slow, and unstable. That earlier incident also affected web-TV broadcasts, and officials acknowledged the disruption without providing a prognosis for normal operations.
