In October 2022, the office’s online presence was targeted by a distributed denial‑of‑service attack carried out by the pro‑Russian hacking group Killnet, which temporarily disrupted access to its websites and caused performance degradation without compromising sensitive data. The incident was condemned by Bulgarian authorities as an attack on state institutions and was linked to broader cyber‑operations aimed at nations supporting Ukraine. Despite the disruption, the administration continued to carry out its constitutional functions, relying on backup systems and incident response measures to maintain essential services.
