Ono Academic College

Profile narrative

Ono Academic College is an Israeli academic institution that provides higher education programs and related academic services. As a college, it offers instructional and research opportunities for students and faculty. Its primary mission centers on delivering accredited academic curricula within the Israeli education system.

In October 2023, the college experienced a data breach in which approximately 250,000 records containing personal information of employees, students, and alumni were exfiltrated and published on Telegram. The scale of the exposed data indicates that the institution serves a substantial community of individuals. Following the incident, the college took its IT infrastructure offline to contain the exposure.

The breach prompted collaboration with national cybersecurity authorities and Israeli privacy regulators to investigate and remediate the incident. This response reflects the college’s adherence to regulatory expectations and its engagement with broader national cyber defense efforts. The attack occurred amid a period of heightened cyber threats targeting Israeli entities, underscoring the institution’s visibility as a notable academic target. Ono Academic College’s headquarters is located in Israel, anchoring its operations within the country’s regional landscape.
