Ziv Medical Center

Ziv Medical Center, also known as Ziv Hospital, is a healthcare institution headquartered in Israel that provides medical services to patients. On December 1, 2023, Ziv Medical Center experienced a cyberattack that allegedly resulted in the exfiltration of more than 500 gigabytes of data, including hundreds of thousands of patient medical records. The attackers, claimed to be linked to Iran, asserted that approximately 100,000 of the stolen documents related to Israel Defense Forces personnel. During the incident, the threat actors shared screenshots of medical records as proof of the breach and indicated that further actions might follow. In response, the hospital and Israeli authorities acknowledged signs of leaked information and imposed a gag order to limit public discussion of the event. Legal prohibitions were also enacted against the use or distribution of the stolen data. As a precautionary measure, the medical center temporarily restricted external email communications and disconnected certain computer services. Israeli cybersecurity and health agencies later confirmed that the incident had been contained and that there was no disruption to the hospital’s operational capabilities. The event highlighted vulnerabilities in healthcare IT infrastructure and prompted a coordinated response from national security and health authorities.
