EPERAM, also known as Hospital dos Marmeleiros and Serviço de Saúde da RAM, is the public health organisation responsible for delivering healthcare services in the Madeira Autonomous Region of Portugal. In the aftermath of the cyberattack on 6 August 2023, EPERAM led a prioritised restoration effort to regain access to clinical data and resume normal operations, starting with urgent care units. This response highlighted its role in maintaining continuity of essential health services during disruptive incidents. EPERAM functions as a publicly funded entity under the authority of the Madeira regional government, reflecting its status as a key component of the region’s public health infrastructure. Its organisational structure is aligned with the regional health authority, ensuring accountability to local health policy and planning bodies. Through these responsibilities, EPERAM contributes to the overall accessibility and quality of healthcare for the Madeiran community.
