Loopia, also known by its alias, is a web hosting provider headquartered in Sweden. The company provides website hosting and email services to its customers. Loopia's offerings include supplying server space and connectivity that enable individuals and organisations to establish an online presence. On 22 August 2017, Loopia disclosed that attackers had gained access to parts of its customer database. The compromised data included personal information, contact details, and encrypted passwords stored by the provider. Financial information was not affected because Loopia does not retain such data as part of its hosting services. The breach did not impact the company's hosted email or website services, which remained operational and uncompromised. Following the discovery, Loopia secured its systems and promptly informed affected customers about the incident. As a precaution, all customer account credentials were reset and an internal investigation was launched to identify the vulnerabilities exploited. Subsequently, the provider implemented additional security measures aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future.
