Profile

ThaiAirways is the flag carrier airline of Thailand, providing scheduled passenger and cargo air transport services. The airline operates a fleet of aircraft that serves destinations across Asia, Europe, Oceania, and the Middle East. In addition to flight operations, Thai Airways offers ancillary services such as airline catering, aircraft maintenance, and ground handling. It sells tickets through its own website, call centers, and travel agents, and provides frequent flyer benefits via its Royal Orchid Plus program. The carrier also engages in codeshare agreements with other airlines to expand its network reach. Thai Airways is a member of the global Star Alliance airline partnership.

Headquartered in Bangkok, the airline is a state-owned enterprise under the oversight of Thailand's Ministry of Transport. As the nation's largest carrier, Thai Airways plays a significant role in connecting Thailand to international markets and supporting tourism and trade. The airline has been recognized for its service standards, including its Royal First Class and Royal Silk Class cabins. In April 2018, Thai Airways experienced a cyberattack in which a Pakistani hacker using the alias "Hunter butt" defaced 23 subdomains, affecting services such as mail servers, DNS, payment platforms, and booking systems. The attacker replaced the affected pages with an animated message featuring a Pakistani flag before the airline restored its website and removed the defaced content. This incident highlighted vulnerabilities in the airline's digital infrastructure and prompted subsequent security improvements.
