In April 2018, RISE Wisconsin experienced a ransomware attack that led to immediate system shutdowns and triggered a forensic investigation. Although investigators found no evidence confirming unauthorized data access, they could not entirely rule out the potential compromise of personal information. The types of data that might have been exposed included names, addresses, birth dates, Social Security numbers, and limited health details. As a result, the organization notified law enforcement about the incident. Additionally, RISE Wisconsin informed all affected individuals of the potential breach.
