Nordea’s chief executive officer characterized the attack as sophisticated and likely involving multiple threat actors rather than isolated individuals. A similar incident occurred in July 2014 when a DDoS campaign affected several Norwegian financial institutions, including Nordea, exploiting a WordPress vulnerability to generate junk traffic. These events highlight the bank’s exposure to cyber threats aimed at disrupting its online banking infrastructure.
