The attackers demanded a $15 million Bitcoin ransom, threatened to publish the stolen information, and caused prolonged outages of email and web services; Campari Group refused to pay, restored systems from backups and notified law‑enforcement authorities. This incident highlighted the growing cyber‑threat landscape facing large Italian corporations and underscored the importance of robust incident response and backup strategies.
