Danish Ministry of Immigration

The ministry also oversees integration programmes designed to help newcomers learn Danish, find employment and participate in society. In addition, it coordinates with other Danish authorities, such as the police and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to enforce immigration legislation and manage border controls. Its services are available to both prospective migrants already residing in Denmark and to those applying from abroad.

As a ministerial department, it operates under the authority of the Danish parliament and the cabinet, with its headquarters located in Denmark. In September 2017 the ministry’s website was taken offline by a distributed denial‑of‑service attack claimed by a Turkish hacker group, highlighting its exposure to cyber threats. While the incident disrupted online services, the ministry continued to carry out its core functions through alternative channels.
