In November 2023 EDC experienced a cyberattack carried out by the pro‑Russian ransomware group Black Basta, which resulted in the temporary shutdown of servers and disruption of IT systems. During the incident attackers copied personal data such as addresses and, for some clients, CPR numbers, while financial accounts, passwords and national digital IDs remained unaffected. The breach involved information that the company was obliged to store under regulatory requirements, prompting notification of affected individuals and engagement with authorities. Following the attack EDC implemented security enhancements to strengthen its defences and prevent recurrence.
