Profile

SSHMP,also known as Správa služeb hlavního města Prahy, is the municipal services organization responsible for managing various public services in Prague, Czechia. Its headquarters are located in Prague, reflecting its close ties to the city administration. As a city‑owned entity, SSHMP operates under the authority of the Prague municipal government and implements policies set by local officials. The organization’s primary mission is to ensure the reliable delivery of essential urban services that support daily life for residents and businesses. SSHMP functions as a key operational arm of the city, translating policy decisions into practical service provision across the capital. The organization oversees a broad portfolio that includes street cleaning, waste collection and recycling, public space maintenance, and management of municipal facilities. It also coordinates winter services such as snow removal and gritting, ensuring safe passage on Prague’s roads and walkways during adverse weather. SSHMP’s activities extend to the upkeep of parks, green spaces, and public squares, contributing to the city’s environmental quality and aesthetic appeal. Serving a metropolitan area with a population exceeding 1.3 million inhabitants, the organization’s reach covers all districts of Prague. Through these functions, SSHMP plays a central role in maintaining the livability and operational continuity of the Czech capital.

On 1 April 2025, SSHMP suffered a ransomware attack that compromised sensitive data, including personal information, vehicle details, and internal contracts. The attackers, who claimed affiliation with the Cicada3301 group, threatened to publish the stolen data unless a ransom was negotiated. The incident forced SSHMP to suspend certain digital systems and rely on temporary communication channels while striving to maintain essential services. In response, the organization collaborated with Czech police and national cybersecurity authorities to investigate the breach and mitigate further damage. The attackers asserted they had exfiltrated a substantial volume of data, raising concerns about potential misuse of the compromised information. The disruption highlighted the vulnerability of municipal service providers to cyber extortion and prompted a review of SSHMP’s security posture.
